Celebrating Culture

Hello everyone, today I am going to be showing you my presentation I did for Celebrating Culture. We did this for Wānanga time. We had to do 8 different things and write what they are and what are the definition of them. I'm sorry if it's hard to see the writing, I tried my best to let people read it. Here is my presentation.

I hope you enjoyed this presentation. Have a good day or night, goodbye. Sorry that it's quite big, I would recommend going full screen.

Writing

Hello everyone, today I am going to be showing you my writing. We had to write about an invention that is either real or fake. This took me a couple of days to do. We had to start of by doing a draft in our book. After that we published it into a google doc. This was a pretty fun piece of writing to do. Here is my writing.

“Boom” The explosion sounded as Michael was building his new invention named “Hellerbike”. It is combined with 3 vehicles: a helicopter, car and motorbike.

Finally Michael has finished the motorbike wheels for his Hellerbike! He made the outside out of Iron and the inside out of steel.

“SSSSS” As the sound of the laser cutter sliced through the solid metal…..

“AHHH”  He screamed, the laser cut through his stomach.

“BANG” He fell to the ground and his eyes slowly shut.

4 Hours Later

Michael slowly opened his eyes. After a couple of seconds he finally realized where he was… In the hospital!?!?

“Hey! You're finally awake, how are you feeling?” The nurse asked.

“Im fine, thanks,” Michael replied.

The nurse started to see what was wrong with him.

“OH MY!” she shouted.

She was speechless, she couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

She started to call for backup. Doctors started to rush into the room with all these different types of medical tools.

2 Hours Later

They have just finished healing him. At the moment he is asleep because they gave him a pill to make him fall asleep.

The Next Day

He finally woke up from the pill. He realized no nurses were around. Then he knew it was his time to sneak out.

He slowly crept out of bed and snuck out the window. Luckily for him, the nurses didn’t realize he sneaked out.

30 Minutes Of Walking Later

Slowly he opened the garage door. Then he realised… His invention was gone. He couldn’t believe his eyes. Even worse, he had forgotten how to make it.

But he didn’t give up. He just sat down and did whatever that he could remember, after a little bit of thinking he remembered how to make the wheels.

He went to the shop and got safety gear because he didn’t want to get hurt by the laser again.

After he finished getting the safety gear he hopped in his car and headed back home.

(He got changed into his safety gear)

Once he got home. He walked to the garage and started working on the invention.

1 Hour Later

He just finished making the motorbike wheels. He was surprised but proud of himself because that was the fastest he ever made them.

The next day…

After lots of hard work overnight he finally finished his Hellerbike. He was ready to take it out for a spin.

“WOOHOO!!” He yelled. Michael was having the time of his life.

He was flying all over the south island. Slowly Michael went back home really proud of what he

created/invented.

1 Year Later

Michaels invention is the biggest thing in the whole of NZ. He has over 100 posters and a factory. He is even a millionaire!

Thank you for reading my writing. Have a good day or night goodbye!

Gummy Bear Osmosis

Hello everyone, today I am going to be talking about the practical we did. Last week we did gummy bear osmosis, this was where we made a gummy bears turn big (They were jelly babies). I sadly wasn't here to see the outcome of it so I don't know how it turned out.

We started of by using sugar, salt and water. We had in total 7 gummy bears and put 2 into each petri dish, the reason why we had another 1 was to compare the size after (because they grew). We filled up a beaker of one of the experimental things (the salt, sugar and water). After we prepped everything we waited 12-48 hours to let it turn big.

When my buddy came back to class on the next day he said "The bottom got a little bit bigger, the top didn't change that much, most of them split right through and our last 2 didn't split at all. He said it was a really fun experiment.

Thank you for reading my blog. I am sorry I didn't have any photos, I deleted them on accident. Have a good day or night, goodbye!

Safety Rules

Hello everyone, today I will be talking about Safety Rules. A couple of weeks ago we learnt about Safety Rules in the lab (for science). There were a few but they were all important. Here are most of the Safety Rules we learnt.

While doing a practical remember to use your safety glasses (goggles) too protect your eyes

Make sure when your doing a practical stand up and don't sit down, so if your experiment "explodes" you can back away faster.

Remember too keep your hair tied up and if your hair is long tie it up with a bobble.

Make sure equipment gets put away.

No running around the lab.

Always wear covered shoes (leather and that type of material).

When a piece of equipment gets broken make sure you tell a teacher.

Thank you for reading my blog post. I hope I have taught you something. Have a good day or night and I will hopefully see you tomorrow, bye :)

Bunsen Burner Flame Temperature

Hello everyone, today I am going to be talking about our science practical we did yesterday. The practical we did yesterday was checking temperatures of the Bunsen Burner. Our class did the safety flame and the roaring/blue flame.

We couldn't do our safety flame because our (I did this with my friend Treyvon) first try the Bunsen burner randomly went out so we had to wait for our teacher too give us another match. Now I will be showing you our table for the different temperatures.

Before

After

Difference

20.3

60.5

40.2

We also got asked a question and here is my answer for it.

Why do we need to make the test fair? So we can get the best average as possible

Thank you for reading my blog post. Have a good day or night, bye!
